How to look after the heart you give to the world

When I wrote my first book in 2016, this was the title and sub-text that seemed to speak best about what I wanted to share.

Oh how little did I know then!

As a former nurse, and more latterly working in the field of functional medicine and nutrition, I focussed mainly on the principles of supporting a healthy mind and body with quality nutrition, appropriate exercise and mindset practices. …

Sometimes as a working mother, you just have to stick to your guns when you are running your own show!

I expect that during the lockdown, those that work for themselves were not alone in trying to balance work and life. When speaking to friends and associates experiencing the work-from-home lifestyle perhaps for the first time, there seems to be mixed reactions. These range from:

I can’t stand not seeing my clients or colleagues

to

I didn’t realise how “absent” I was as a parent and have kept my out-of-office on until the end of school holidays.

It is infinitely better for those that have space in which to work. A home office is a luxury. This became more obvious…

Wow you don’t look 59!!

Although I love to receive compliments, I much prefer the secret knowledge I hold. Not only do I look (and act) younger, I am actually biologically younger too!

The age of my arteries is a good 8 years younger than my actual age which means that I am confident that I will avoid or delay most of the age related diseases, oh and so will my husband who is also reversing his biological age too!

The other benefits of finding a simple anti-ageing protocol for any menopausal woman are

  1. it boosts the immune system
  2. it…

Boosting Immunity for the “dismount” from social distancing.

This word cloud features the responses I received when I asked my followers how they were finding their first week of isolation

As we have just entered the 5th week of social distancing in the UK, none of us really know when or how we will be functioning more like our “old” selves in the next few weeks or months.

What I do know, if you’re anything like me, is that never-before has health been as far up the agenda in terms of my priorities, (and I work in the wellness industry!).

This period has focussed many of us on how we could potentially live less busy lives and use the lessons from lockdown to create more balance and flow for ourselves…

How we have experienced week 1 of social distancing in the UK.

Supermarket Social Distancing

What a week it has been! If you are like me, there have been moments when everything has just seemed too overwhelming or scary. It feels like a rollercoaster we have no control over and therefore will end badly. Looking out at the world and the effects of the pandemic on:

  • the death toll of all nations,
  • the falling global and local economy,
  • the implications for those that are vulnerable or at risk, even in their own homes

it is hard to keep our eyes on any positive…

Why it’s perfectly normal, and what you can do to manage it.

I heard recently that John Lennon threw up every time he did a gig.

Even the biggest comedy stars question their sanity just before they step out onto the stage.

Look at how magnetic Freddie Mercury was as the frontman for Queen. Every person in his 70,000 strong audience felt they were being sung to personally, but he suffered with stage fright, as he was natural shy.

It is well know that Richard Branson avoids public speaking and will only agree to interviews.

If you have ever stood…

Here are five tips to improve the way you feel in any situation.

“I am thinking of giving up on speaking at conferences, it terrifies me”

Jennie, a Tax advisor is an expert in her field. She knows she offers a valuable, unique and bespoke service to her clients. She is a respected employee of the accountants firm she has been with for a few years. In fact, being such a high flyer in terms of her niche area, she is called on to share her expertise regularly.

This doe-eyed, fresh faced petite young lady stood in front of the…

Be careful what you wish for.

So you may well be familiar with the “standard” symptoms of the peri and post menopausal period.

  • Hot flushes and night sweats
  • Aching joints
  • Insomnia

But actually let’s take a look at the reality for the majority of women who will experience some, if not all of these feelings or scenarios through what can be anything from 7–14 years.

Feeling like

  • you have been hit by a bus
  • you really can’t be arsed
  • you have become invisible and no one seems to notice you
  • its easier to give up working than to bother competing…

Where are all the Brexiteers?

Here I am, rolling along the motorways of France on our way to the Alps, on this day of all days.

We stayed overnight in the beautiful town of Troyes.

As per… Mr B and I got chatting to the couple on the table next to us at the restaurant we ate at.

They were on their way home from their skiing holiday.

Although we were cautious as always when mentioning the B word – there is a kind of unwritten dance of terminology that we all play to work out which “side” we are…
